As the oldest sake brewery in the Tamba region, we have dedicated ourselves to make sake using traditional methods and local ingredients for over three hundred years. Our locally brewed sake called "Okutamba" is brewed by a local Tamba tōji (master sake brewer) who is an expert of his hometown's climate.

Established in 1867 in the ancient sacred grounds of Kamimura, Kamonoshomura (present-day Ichijimacho). Our history of sake making began when the fifth Ogino Shinpei started brewing sake in an attempt to make efficient use of annual rice tax. We moved from our original location (874 Uemaki) to our present location (661 Uemaki) in 1924, and became incorporated.

Nishiyama Shuzojo Co.,Ltd.
Our store is inside a quaint building registered as a tangible cultural property. Because we brew our sake seasonally, our sake is fresh anytime of the year. In addition to sake, other products include shochu, liquor, and alcoholic beverages such as grappa, as well as nonalcoholic products such as amazake and yogurt made with our rice fermentation technology.
We renovated our sake brewery's 200-year-old head office and former residence into a facility for public viewing, in order to present how sake breweries once used to look like in the Edo period, the traditions of the Tamba tōji (master sake brewer), and classic methods of brewing Japanese sake.
Our direct sales store is located right next to the brewery, known for brewing Tamba Sasayama's local sake called "Shugetsu". Because quality control is strictly managed, our sake are provided fresh at all times. Free sake samples are offered inside the shop, so that you may find and purchase sake to your liking.
Our facility offers viewings of brewing equipment and bottling systems that are used to produce our sake and local beer. The theater on the second floor shows screenings of how Kizakura is dedicated to brewing sake with a mission to further elevate our flavors. The facility is also equipped with a restaurant, where fresh local beer and rare, exclusive sake are served.
